American Medical Association offers new telemedicine recommendations

 

During its annual meeting, the American Medical Association's House of Delegates approved its Council on Medical Service's report setting forth recommendations regarding the practice of telemedicine. The report, which comes on the heels of the Federation of State Medical Boards' new model telemedicine policy, provides an overview of key topics specific to telemedicine, including reimbursement, known practice guidelines, and telemedicine use cases, and establishes a number of new AMA policies and recommendations regarding telemedicine services.

Utah Division of Occupational and Professional Licensing Commission Study

 Utah State Legislature

The Utah Division of Occupational and Professional Licensing commissioned an excellent study of telehealth laws and regulations around the country.  Mark Steinagel, Director DOPL, suggested that there may need to be a discussion of an interstate compact for telehealth and discussed the idea of standards for telehealth.
